This world has many problems & issues, with the majority of the world’s people dealing with these problems and issues every single day. This world is full of problems like: diseases, poverty, hunger, slavery, amongst many others. Near and far from us, there are plenty of people that need help. In Max Lucado’s most recent book, Outlive Your Life, he talks about these people and how our loving & gracious God has called His followers to be the hands and feet that help them.
Lucado uses the example of the early church in Acts for how we, as Christ followers, should reach out and help those around us that are in need. We are all children of God and we are all one church. Lucado reminds us that we can all make excuses for not helping, or can do the opposite and use helping, serving and giving as a way to elevate ourselves and put the glory on ourselves, which he reminds us are both sins. We should glorify God by reaching out, giving and serving others. Lucado reminds us that “we are given a choice…an opportunity to make a big difference during a difficult time. What if we did? What if we rocked the world with hope? Infiltrated all corners with God’s love and life? None of us can help everyone. But all of us can help someone. And when we help them, we serve Jesus.”
