“Unleashed” takes a much different look at Christianity and faith than other books I’ve seen. Within these pages, the author discusses the concept of the “barbarian way”. Effectively, he makes the argument that Christians have been “domesticated” and have lost the point that such biblical figures as John the Baptist and Jesus Christ himself were trying to make.
Throughout, the author quotes actual scripture from the Bible, then proceeds to explain it in a way that supports the “barbarian way”. He presents a number of real-life examples and experiences, and makes no illusions about the trials and tribulations of not only biblical figures but people around now.
The author strikes me as kind of Gnostic, possibly without knowing it and without quoting Gnostic texts. His points about modern views of organized religion and how “tamed” we’ve become are great. I think this book is well timed and is a great read for those who are questioning their views of Christianity as well as Gnostics out there looking for another interpretation of well known biblical texts
